Ruben Studdard was admitted to a Birmingham, Alabama, hospital Monday night, due to exhaustion.
The American Idol 2 champ, whose second album, I Need an Angel, was released today (November 23) has been advised to remain in the hospital until the end of the week, according to his spokesperson.
All appearances on Studdard's busy promo tour,
including tomorrow's concert at Alabama State University and
Atlantic City, New Jersey shows for Friday and Saturday, have been
canceled. This also means that the huggable teddy bear of a singer might spend his Thanksgiving holiday in the hospital.
Last week, Studdard filmed a holiday special, "Kelly, Ruben &
Fantasia: Home for Christmas," which is set to air Wednesday on FOX.
I Need an Angel is a stirring return to Ruben's gospel roots and features
traditional numbers like "Amazing Grace" along with original songs.
