R&B newsGrammy nominees Alicia Keys and Kanye West have been slated to join Floetry and Talib Kweli to perform for the 2005 Essence Music Festival. The annual event, scheduled to be held July 1-3 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, will also feature previously confirmed act Destiny's Child.

Other previously confirmed performers include the legendary Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, along with heavy hitters Jeffrey Osborne, Mint Condition, Vivian Green and Regina Belle.

The event, which is touted as the largest annual African-American event and gathering of musical talent in the world is just one of the highlights of a year-long celebration of Essence magazine's 35th anniversary. The magazine was recently sold to Time Warner.

Ticket information and travel packages are available via the festival's official Web site.
