The Ray Charles biopic, "Ray" and its star Jamie Foxx were among those honored today (January 25) with nominations for the 77th annual Academy Awards. Foxx is considered a shoe-in for the best actor award, while the film is up for best picture.
"Ray" also copped a best director nod for Taylor Hackford (Devil's Advocate), as well as noms for costume design, editing and sound mixing. In addition to his stellar performance as Ray Charles, Foxx also gets props in the supporting actor category for his role opposite Tom Cruise in the thriller "Collateral."
Presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscars will be doled out February 27 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre. Comedian/actor Chris Rock is slated to host the live ABC broadcast.
