Godfather of Noise, Rahzel and hip-hop icon Doug E. Fresh have signed on to lead a posse of hip-hop artists for a benefit concert to relieve the devastating effects of December's tsunami.
Rap For Relief will take place at BB King's Blues Club in New York City on Tuesday, February 22, 2005.
Joining Rahzel and Fresh will be soulbrother number one Pete Rock, J-Live, High & Mighty and C-Rayz Walz. DJ JS-1 will be the house DJ for the night and other acts soon to be announced.
The concert is the brainchild of Peter Schwartz, vice president of The Agency Group, to which all the artists are signed.
"Pulling together clients from the TAG roster was the best way we knew to make a real contribution," Schwartz said. "The artists were all more than willing to donate their time."
BB King's Blues Club is donating the venue and their expenses towards the cause. Rahzel was the first artist to sign on.
"This is what hip-hop is all about - giving back," said the beatbox legend.
All proceeds from the February 22 concert will go to the Red Cross. Tickets are $20 in advance at the club and Ticketmaster. Extra donations will be accepted at the venue that evening.
