Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Manuel Seal Jr. has been charged with theft and trespassing after alledgedly stealing used tires from a Georgia shop, police said.
Seal, 44, who co-produced Usher's hit single "My Boo" featuring Alicia Keys, was jailed Tuesday night on misdemeanor charges, police said.
According to authorities, he and Wendale Paxton, 21, told police they had permission from an employee to take the used tires, but later the shop's president said he didn't know the men.
Both were held in custody overnight. Seal was released Wednesday on $1,300 bond, said Maj. Robert Glaze of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. A date for an initial court appearance has not been set.
Seal also produced other hit singles for Usher, including "You Make Me Wanna," "Nice & Slow" and "My Way." In addition, he co-produced Mariah Carey's 1996 hit "Always Be My Baby."
The Grammy Awards will air live Feb. 13 in Los Angeles.
