Bipolar emcee MC Spice recently paid tribute to guitar legend Eric Clapton for the upcoming Spice CD Lover Brown.
The Boston artist recorded "Remember Me," a song that re-works Clapton's "Tears In Heaven." Clapton's classic touched millions of hearts around the world and was written as an ode to his toddler son who had fallen to his death from an apartment window.
Spice's version builds on his own personal experience with the losses of his grandmother and his deejay, Wessy Wess who died in a gang-related incident in Boston.
Spice is accredited with making Mark Wahlberg famous when he wrote and produced the actor-turned-rapper's platinum debut album containing the hits, "Good Vibrations" and "Wild Side."
Lover Brown is slated for a June 14, 2005 release.
In addition, Spice continues to work in urban communities promoting bipolar awareness and helping youth who are afflicted with the disorder. The emcee was diagnosed with bipolar disorder ten years ago, and has since recorded the popular song, "My Mind Is A Battlefield," where he openly discusses his bouts. Spice also acts as a liaison between the Child & Adolescent Bipolar Foundation and young urban mothers and their children.
