50 Cent made an on-air appearance on infamous New York radio station Hot 97 where he announced that Compton emcee The Game had been dropped from 50's G-Unit clique. Shortly after this announcement, 24-year-old Los Angeles man was shot in the station's lobby.
Police did not know if the victim was associated with 50 or Game, but the Compton native is in critical condition after receiving a gun shot wound to the leg.
Flanked by G-Unit members Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and Olivia, 50 told radio personality Funkmaster Flex that The Game was getting the boot for disloyalty. In an earlier interview with Angie Martinez, The Game revealed he has no interest in getting involved with the beef 50 has been cooking up with the diss track "Piggy Bank."
According to Flex, Game also revealed he would make a song with Nas, one of the dissed parties on the track.
"He's gone," 50 scoffed. "He might as well make the record."
50 went on to claim he stopped Interscope from giving Game the ax. His involvement with Game's debut, The Documentary, saved the project, which 50 claims he's making more profit from than Game is.
According to MTV, Game told Hot 97 call-in listeners that when it came to any rumored friction between he and 50, he was going to continue to make "good music." Two nights prior, Game had said on-air that he and 50 did not have to be friends as long as they worked toward a common goal: making good music.
Allegedly, there have been rumors of disharmony in the G-Unit camp between the two rappers who have until last might denied any beef.
Interscope reps had no comment on the events.
In February 2001, Lil' Kim was at Hot 97 when a shooting occurred outside, and she was later indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to police and failing to cooperate with their investigation. The case is currently in the jury-selection phase.
