Dustin (17), Kelly (16), Patrick (15), Carnell (14), and Bryan (11), known collectively as B5, are one of the newest boy groups out on the scene, courtesy P. Diddy’s Bad Boy label. The brothers, who share the last name of Breeding, combine the old school flavor of the Jackson Five and the energy of New Edition with the contemporary appeal of N’Sync and are currently on the The Heart Throbs tour with Bow Wow and Omarion.
Clean lyrics, b-boy stage moves, and good looks make B5 a shoe in to be the next big "boy band." The boys who have been performing professionally for almost seven years, were known as TNT Boyz on the talent competition circuit. Later when Bryan joined the group they became B5.
“As we were looking for a name everybody kept saying ‘Man these kids are like the new generation Jackson Five’ and, of course, the Jackson Five were J5 and the boys’ last name is Breeding, so we made it B5.”
B5 continued to hone their performance skills, performing with the likes of Mario Winans, Kanye West, Ginuwine, Usher, Fantasia, Bow Wow, Joe and others. After perfoming for Prince Albert of Monaco in Monte Carlo, the boys signed with World Wide Entertainment who hooked them up with Bad Boy Entertainment.
Describing them as the group that fills a void in the music industry,” Diddy paired them up with Rodney Jerkins and other hot producers for their self-titled debut album which dropped July 2005 and featured the lead single, “All I Do,” originally recorded by the Jackson Five and covered by Troop in 1990.
Following the lead of the legendary Jackson brothers, the Breedings are in it for the long run.
“We don’t want to be one of those one hit wonders,” says Patrick. “We want to be around for a long time.”
