Laid back R&B vocalist Dwele, aka Andwele Gardner, is currently prepping his sophomore effort, Some Kinda..., for an October 4 release.
The follow-up to his 2003 debut album, Subject, picks up where the first set left off and offers fans more of the same mix of soulful R&B vocals with jazzy hip-hop beats.
"I'm really excited to finish the new album and, more importantly, get back in front of the people," says Dwele. "It will be great to finally share new material that I've been working on for several months. I think people will really see my growth as a songwriter and musician."
The self-taught Detroit musician, who recently performed to sold out audiences in London and Paris, started playing piano at the age of six.
His first came to prominence through his collaborations with Bahamadia and fellow Motor City hip-hop heads Slum Village, who also guest on the new release.
As of presstime, a track list was not available. The set's first single "I Think I Love U," is produced by Mike City (Usher, Carl Thomas, Nappy Roots). Nine of the albums tracks were produced by Dwele himself, while other album producers include Mike City, Jay Dilla (Slum Village) and G-1 (R. Kelly, Raphael Saadiq).
