r&B newsMariah Carey walked away the leader of nominees for the 33rd annual American Music Awards, gathering four nods in the top pop/rock categories.

50 Cent scored three noms, while the Black Eyed Peas, Destiny's Child and American Idol Fantasia all received two nominations.

AMA winners will be announced during a live televised three-hour ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium on Nov. 22. The show will be broadcast on ABC.

Comeback-of-the-year, Carey, received nods in the favorite female pop/rock artist and favorite female soul/R&B artist categories. Her current album, The Emancipation of Mimi, is nominated for favorite pop/rock and soul/R&B album. The set has been in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 for almost six months, and has sold more than 3.2 million copies to date.

50 Cent has enjoyed a resurgence in record sales with the re-issue of The Massacre as a CD/DVD combo boasting 21 music videos. The set rocketed back up to No. 2 right before he was nominated for favorite male rap/hip-hop artist and favorite male pop/rock artist.
