Stevie Wonder To Receive United Negro College All-star Tribute

Iconic singer/songwriter Stevie Wonder was announced today as the recipient of The United Negro College (UNC) all-star tribute in honor of his continuous support of the organization's fund raising efforts and global humanitarian work. The four-hour tribute will take place on UNC's annual televised fund-raiser, An Evening of Stars, taped at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California, and set to air nationwide January 7th, 2006.
"Stevie Wonder has been at the forefront of UNCF's efforts to raise money for deserving students through An Evening of Stars, and we are proud that he is this year's honoree," said Dr. Michael Lomax, UNCF's president and CEO. "Stevie has contributed a great deal to the music industry, so this tribute is much deserved and highly anticipated," he continued.
Celebrities scheduled to appear are Fantasia, Maroon 5, India.Arie, Toni Braxton, actress Ruby Dee, CSI's Gary Dourdan, The Wire's Idris Elba, Vivica A. Fox, Doug E. Fresh, actor Terrence D. Howard, comedian D.L. Hughley, fellow legend Quincy Jones and many more.
After almost four decades in the music industry, the globally-lauded Wonder has earned 22 Grammys, over 30 Top 10 hits and 11 No. 1 pop singles. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Wonder's other prestigious awards include an Academy Award, a Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award, and the distinction of being the youngest honoree of the Kennedy Center Honors, just to name a few.
